Biography
Where's home?: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
What is/are your concentration(s)?: Neuroscience and Science, Technology, and Society
I chose my concentration(s) because: I chose neuroscience because I enjoy studying the ambiguity of the brain and the different disorders and diseases that arise from slight changes in morphology. And I chose Science, Technology, and Society because, as a pre-med student, I consider it important to be able to take and combine my science classes with my humanities classes, which is what I enjoy about STS and its different concentrations.
On campus, I'm also: on the events team of BSU, I volunteer as a tutor for Brown Tutoring Corps, and I work as a medical scribe for the Rhode Island Free Clinic.
My favorite place to study is at the BCSC and Rhode Island Hall; and my favorite place to relax is at Harambee House.
One of my favorite classes was: Epidemiology of Hope (it was a first-year seminar).
I like to advise about: Anything related to adjusting to life at Brown, choosing and taking science courses, finding jobs, and extracurricular activities at Brown and in Providence.
A formative college experience for me is/was: Black convocation! I loved listening to the guest speakers and talking to some of the upperclassmen.
My advice for first-year students and and sophomores is: To take it one step at a time, and try new things that you are genuinely curious about, without overwhelming yourself!
My healthy strateg/(ies) for for destressing is/are: Taking a self-care day when necessary, and making lists of things to do when I feel overwhelmed.
Something most people don't know about me: I have met two presidents!
Something I love about the CRC is: The common area! Additionally, the amount of people that are there to talk to and answer questions.
