Biography

Where's home? Sacramento, California

What is/are your concentration(s)? Psychology

I chose my concentration(s) because: I have always enjoyed learning about human behavior and how our environment shapes who we are! There are so many possibilities within this field, it is always evolving, and can be applicable to a diverse range of disciplines. It's versatility can attract any body from all walks of life and I am especially interested in it's clinical implications!

On campus, I'm also: Co-president of the Hmong Cultural Club, vice president of Brown Taekwondo, an English tutor, and involved with psychosocial/psychiatric research!

My favorite place to study is my desk with a trinket shelf,; and my favorite place to relax is my friends' rooms!

One of my favorite classes was: CPSY 0950: Intro to Clinical Psychology.

I like to advise about: navigating mental health & wellness at Brown, study habits, maintaining cultural identity, pre-med/health, and academic planning!

A formative college experience for me is/was: creating and coordinating a Hmong high school outreach program to aid them in navigating college applications and life after high school! I formed so many bonds with Hmong students from universities around the country in addition to mentoring amazing high school students!

My advice for first-year students and and sophomores is: take breaks and take care of your health! If you need some time by yourself to decompress, schedule it into your day. If you feel the need for counseling or therapy, schedule an appointment with CAPS or talk to a trusted friend or relative. College can get super overwhelming sometimes and it is essential that you prioritize your health! Set clear boundaries with yourself and others and remember to give yourself grace.

My healthy strateg/(ies) for for destressing is/are: getting enough sleep and spending at least 30 minutes to an hour every single day doing something I enjoy that isn't academic or extracurricular related!

Something most people don't know about me: I may or may not have a strong fascination with whales.

Something I love about the CRC is: the resources and people! Any student can find a space here!
