Biography
Where's home?: Parker, Pennsylvania
What is/are your concentration(s)?: Public Health
I chose my concentration(s) because: After taking the class Complexities and Challenges of Global Health (PHP 0060), I realized that I was really interested in learning about health from a more holistic and humanistic perspective. After completing the course during my freshman Fall, I decided to explore more public health classes at Brown; I realized that I really enjoyed learning more about global health initiatives and how to provide more equitable access to care through public health measures.
On campus, I'm also: a Community Coordinator, Meiklejohn Peer Advisor, Co-founder of Brown's Letters Without Limits Chapter, CGHE Research Subcommittee Student Member and Connect for Health Advocate.
My favorite place to study is Fleet Library and my favorite place to relax is anywhere related to thrifting
One of my favorite classes was: COST 0725: Psychedelics in Religion, Science, and Healing.
I like to advise: many pre-med students on classes that are related to medicine, but not within the traditional pre-med curriculum.
A formative college experience for me is/was: Definitely when I realized that I didn't have to take the "conventional" pre-med classes and realized that I can explore health through many different lens at Brown through the Open Curriculum.
My advice for first-year students and and sophomores is: Take time to explore through the Open Curriculum! If you decided to take classes that are primarily focused in your intended concentration in your freshman and sophomore years, it will be come more difficult to take a more diverse range of classes during your later years at Brown.
My healthy strateg/(ies) for for destressing is/are: Taking a nap (it is always very effective for me)!
Something most people don't know about me: I grew up on a small family farm!
Something I love about the CRC is: being able to work with students, answer their questions, and also guide them in the direction of helpful resources! I definitely feel that serving as a Co-Coordinator is extremely rewarding as I have the opportunity to advise students that were once in my shoes.
